Your Revit data. More places to take it.
xeokit Data Engine’s xeoRVT processor reads Revit project and family files directly. Bring their geometry and properties into browser viewing and your own data workflows.
Verified 18 September 2026
The xeoRVT component of xeokit Data Engine reads Autodesk Revit RVT project files and RFA family files, producing GLB, JSON and XKT. The processing step does not require a Revit installation or an Autodesk Platform Services subscription, and it does not need an intermediate IFC export.

Can you open a Revit file without Revit installed?
Yes, for viewing and processing a file you already have. xeoRVT extracts the geometry and the model information from the RVT or RFA file itself, so the person opening it in the browser needs no Autodesk software. This describes viewing and processing supplied files — it is not a statement about Revit authoring rights, which remain a matter between you and Autodesk.
Do you have to export to IFC first?
No. xeoRVT reads the RVT or RFA file directly, so this processing path does not require an intermediate IFC export. Validate supported file versions, geometry and extracted properties with representative project files before agreeing the workflow.
What comes out of an RVT file?
Geometry as GLB and XKT, and the object information — identifiers, categories, parameters — as JSON. Use xeokit SDK to visualize the prepared model, and map the extracted data to reporting, asset or ERP workflows. These connections are implemented for your systems; they are not automatically created by converting a file.

What if we already build on Autodesk Platform Services?
For the viewing and data-extraction part of an APS-based solution, xeoRVT offers another processing path. It extracts straight from RVT and RFA into GLB, JSON and XKT, with a runtime that operates independently of Autodesk Platform Services and of a Revit installation for that workflow. Teams generally look at it when they need processing inside their own environment, or open outputs they can keep.

Where can Revit processing run?
As a managed service, on dedicated infrastructure, inside your own environment, or as a standalone command-line binary on Windows AMD64, Linux AMD64, Linux ARM64. For a project where files must not leave your network, agree local processing and storage together with the required licensing, installation and updates. Review the deployment boundary.
