What does BIM & VDC deliver on a critical-infrastructure programme?

Critical assets demand decisions that hold up over time. Put project information to work where it matters: reviewing commitments, aligning delivery and preparing for long-term use.

01

Investment confidence

Understand the project before making commitments.

Bring proposed works, model context and supporting project records into the same review. Assess scope, technical assumptions and planned changes with the people responsible for the decision.

A reviewable basis for scope and investment decisions.
02

Coordinated delivery

Keep teams working from a shared context.

Give design and delivery teams a consistent way to review disciplines, discuss interfaces and connect decisions to project workflows. Integrate planning and issue records around the work being delivered.

A shared understanding of the project and its interfaces.
03

Long-term asset value

Keep information useful after handover.

Define what information must be delivered with the asset. Connect model properties and equipment records to the systems used for operation, maintenance and future upgrades.

Information prepared for the asset’s life beyond construction.

A foundation for BIM.
Connected workflows for VDC.

What is the difference between BIM and VDC?

BIM (Building Information Modeling) provides model and asset information. VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) connects that information with teams and delivery processes. Build the digital workflows supporting that approach with the xeoVision framework.

  1. 01

    Bring discipline models together

Combine architecture, structure, building services and other engineering models in a shared browser view.

    Model federation
  2. 02

    Coordinate reviews and decisions

Filter objects and systems, inspect properties and save focused views for discussions across teams.

    Shared review context
  3. 03

    Connect construction workflows

Link model context to work packages, issue records or planning information through integrations with your project systems.

    Project-system integration
  4. 04

    Prepare information for handover

Make agreed model properties and equipment information available for owner reviews and asset-management workflows.

Bring terminal architecture, structure and building-services models into one review context. Use focused project views to discuss refurbishment areas, construction interfaces and handover requirements with owners and delivery teams.

  • Multidisciplinary BIM review
  • Refurbishment & delivery planning
  • Model-based handover
02

Power stations

Connect plant models to delivery and asset decisions.

Review plant, building and equipment models together. Filter by system or asset properties, then connect selected model information to upgrade planning, technical reviews and maintenance workflows.

  • Plant & equipment models
  • VDC review workflows
  • Asset-system integration
03

Defense & military assets

BIM & VDC within your defined information boundary.

Give approved teams a shared BIM context for bases, estates, facilities and supporting infrastructure. Coordinate project reviews and handover while shaping model access, source-file permissions and deployment around your requirements.

  • Estate & facility BIM
  • Controlled design reviews
  • Project-to-asset handover
04

Data centers

A shared BIM context for systems, spaces and delivery.

Review structural and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) models together. Explore equipment and system properties to support expansion reviews, multidisciplinary coordination and operational handover.

How do you keep BIM data inside your own information boundary?

For security and defense projects, data sovereignty is part of the solution design, not an afterthought: define where design models, engineering properties and project records are processed, stored and shared before anything is built.

  • Choose the environment.

Your server, on-premises, your data center or a cloud region that meets the selected components’ requirements.

  • Bring processing to the data.

Process IFC and Revit RVT/RFA files with xeokit Data Engine inside the agreed boundary.

  • Agree how the solution is operated.

Define access, retention, backups, updates and service responsibilities with your security and operations teams.

Restricted-network and offline operation are validated for the complete solution and its dependencies.

Control comes with clear responsibilities.

Agree these boundaries with your technical, security and operations teams before implementation.

Processing and data

Select the xeoIFC and xeoRVT processors, supported file versions and runtime. Validate extraction with representative files, and agree where source files, outputs and backups are stored.

Components and rights

xeokit SDK provides visualization. xeokit Data Engine and third-party components have their own terms. Application source access is separately licensed; agree the delivered code, development rights and maintenance scope.

Processing, source access & deploymentRuntime options, component terms and deployment review

Processing inside your environment

xeokit Data Engine supports a managed service, dedicated infrastructure, your own environment, or a standalone command-line binary. Supported runtime targets include Windows AMD64 and Linux AMD64 / ARM64. Select the processors and validate the deployment for your project.

IFC models and Revit project (RVT) and family (RFA) files can be processed through the selected xeoIFC and xeoRVT components, without sending those project files to an external conversion service. Review supported file versions and extraction results with representative data.

Distinguish application hosting from file conversion when evaluating a deployment. Compare the xeoVision framework with Autodesk Platform Services (APS), formerly Autodesk Forge, for IFC and Revit processing, deployment and project-data storage.

Source access and reusable outputs

xeokit SDK provides visualization and offers AGPL-3.0 and commercial licensing. xeokit Data Engine produces JSON, GLB and XKT outputs for selected workflows. These provide a basis for your own viewing, reporting and integration work, subject to data rights and implementation scope.

Application-foundation source code is available under an agreed licence. Define the delivered code, component terms, maintenance responsibilities and development rights for your team or partner. xeokit Data Engine and third-party components have their own terms.

Review the complete deployment

Restricted-network or offline operation is evaluated end to end with your security and operations teams: identity, processors, licensing, telemetry, external assets, installation, integrations and updates. Agree the configuration, acceptance criteria and operating responsibilities for your project. The framework itself is not a security certification; any required accreditation is assessed for the specific solution and operating environment.
